RIDDLES
Not all dragons can speak, but the ones that can, love riddles and word games. They see these kinds of games as intellectual challenges. Be alert though, because dragons live for centuries and have keen memories, so they know all the ancient riddles.
Historically, any human who could outwit a dragon in a contest of riddles would gain their respect. But be careful.... dragons may give you advice for winning the contest, but they are incredibliy wily and all advice should be taken with a grain of salt! See how you do with these riddles:
Riddle One:
I with borrowed silver shine,
What you see is none of mine.
First I show you but a quarter,
Like the bow that guards the Tartar;
Then the half, and then the whole,
Ever dancing round the pole;
And true it is, I chiefly owe
My beauty to the shades below.

Riddle Two:
I'm up and down and round about,
Yet all the world can't find me out;
Though hundreds have employed their leisure,
They never yet could find my measure.
I'm found in almost every garden,
Nay, in the compass of a farden.
There's neither chariot, coach, nor mill
Can move one inch except I will.

Riddle Three:
My step is slow, the snow's my breath,
I give the ground a grinding death.
My marching makes an end to me,
slain by sun or drowned in sea.

Riddle Four:
In your future and in your past
I come and go so senseless and fast
My purpose is unknown to all
Remembrance seems to drift then fall
I travel by night and fade by day
Because that is my common way

Riddle Five:
Of all my siblings, which I have many,
I am the number, wise old twenty.
I always wear, my long thin hat,
And stand on one leg, I've never sat.
I'm last of last, and last of first
I'm last of the best, and last of the worst.
Who am I?

Riddle Six:
What gets wetter the more it dries?

| GEMS & HOARDING
There are two distinct types of dragons. The Western Dragon and the Eastern Dragon.
Western Dragons are known more as the aggressive, vicious, and fire breathing species.
Eastern Dragons are known to be more kind, helpful and wise.
They both collect and hoard gems, but for different reasons.
Eastern Dragons hoard treasure they find merely for its extraordinary and singular beauty.
Western Dragons hoard treasure to protect their soft underbellies. In fact, Western dragons don't value gems for their beauty all, but only for their hardness.
The gems that are harder, give better protection. Here is how a Western Dragon would value gems diamonds being the hardest, gold the softest:
Diamond Ruby Sapphire Emerald Amethyst Opal Iron Silver Gold

APPROACHING DRAGONS
The best way to approach dragons depends upon if it is a Western or Eastern Dragon.
Western Dragons need to be approached with extreme caution. Their breath not only can be filled with fire, but also poisonous!
Until a good relationship of trust has been established, we caution you to keep fairly well hidden. When you do get to the point where you want to lure a dragon out of its cave, offering it a proper gift, such as a valuable gem, is appropriate.
Remember, dragons have been around for centuries, so don't offer fake gems, dragons know the difference and you don't want to feel its wrath!
Eastern dragons are easier to approach, but use your best manners, as they are very keen on proper, respectufl behavior. Eastern dragons like gifts of high quality food, so only premium food stuffs should be offered. |
BEFRIENDING DRAGONS
It is always better to befriend a dragon rather than trying to defeat or tame them.
Dragons love to hoard, so use that to your advantage. Using the list mentioned above, offer gems that dragons value most.
We must warn you though, do not look dragons directly in the eye, they have hypnotic powers and the effects can last for months! |
